Chad Merrell – Dentist

Dr. Merrell’s passion for dentistry is evident through his interaction with his patients. He treats his patients as members of his family. Dr. Merrell is married to Tricia and they have 2 children, Preston age 5 and Mary Grace age 3. He enjoys spending quality time with his family, fly fishing, hiking and camping. Dr. Merrell was born in Anderson, South Carolina in 1973. He earned his Eagle Scout honor in 1989, attended High School in Arden, North Carolina at T.C. Roberson and graduated with a B.S. in Zoology from N.C State University in 1996. Upon graduating from Temple University School of Dentistry in 2002, Dr. Merrell completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at UNC – Chapel Hill where he learned many of the advanced techniques he performs today. Dr. Merrell is entering his tenth year in dentistry and enjoys the advanced technologies he can offer his patients.

Laura Jackson – Registered Dental Hygienist

Laura is originally from Shelby and currently lives in Reidsville. She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1979 and brings 32 years of experience to the profession. Laura enjoys hunting, exercise and hooping. Her favorite things about dentistry are “relationships with patients and helping them maintain healthy mouths and bodies” and her co-workers.

Melissa Boyd – Front Office Manager

Melissa graduated from Southeast Guilford High School and has worked in dentistry for 10 years. Originally from Greensboro, she now lives in Randleman with her husband, Brian and two sons, Jeremy, 14 and Morgan, 4. Melissa’s personal interests include speed skating, cars, shopping and spending time with family and friends. She enjoys “helping patients and getting to know them and their families”.

Samantha Wood – Registered Dental Hygienist

Originally from Summerfield, Sam now lives in Asheboro and is married to Matthew Wood. They have two dogs, Wrangler and Trapper. She graduated from Guilford Technical Community College in 2009 and has been in dentistry for 3 years. Outside of work she enjoys shopping, wakeboarding, fishing and hiking. Sam’s favorite thing about her profession is “being able to go out and help people in need and making all patients feel comfortable in the dental chair”.

Karen Shue – Dental Assistant

Karen brings 33 years of experience to dentistry. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1975 and from Lees McRae in 1977. She is originally from Liberty and resides there now with her husband, Mickey. They have two daughters, Emily and Lauren and four grandchildren. Her personal interests are Bible studies, motor cycle riding, lake and farm life and that great personal quiet time. Karen enjoys “working with and helping people”.
